Playoff place on the line as OCB and NYRBII face season-defining contest

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando City B can clinch a playoff berth, while the New York Red Bulls II will regain control of their playoff destiny with a win when the two USL Eastern Conference playoff contenders square off on Saturday night at Orlando City Stadium in one of the biggest games in the penultimate weekend of the regular season. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Orlando City B news and notes

  • Current record: 10-8-12, 42pts

  • Orlando moved into the playoff positions with a 1-0 win against the Richmond Kickers last Sunday for its second consecutive victory, and second on the road at City Stadium this season.

  • OCB's goal came through Hadji Barry in the 80th minute for his team-leading ninth goal of the season before a red card for the Kickers' Oscar Umar in the 90th minute helped Orlando to the win.

  • Orlando enters the weekend in seventh place in the Eastern Conference, and a victory on Saturday would clinch a playoff berth as it sits one point ahead of the Red Bulls II with two games to go.

  • OCB has struggled on home turf this season, however, with only three of its 10 victories coming at Orlando City Stadium. Orlando took a 2-1 win in its last home game against the Charleston Battery on Sept. 23, however, as Lewis Neal scored a late winner.

  • Current record: 12-12-5, 41pts

  • The Red Bulls II suffered a 3-2 defeat to the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Wednesday night at Al Lang Stadium to open its crucial two-game trip to Florida.

  • After opening the scoring through a well-worked goal by Stefano Bonomo in the 16th minute, NYRB II conceded three straight to go into the break 3-1 down. A goal by Junior Flemmings in the 54th minute gave New York hope until a second yellow card to Jordan Scarlett reduced the visitors to to 10 men with just under half-an-hour to go, and the Rowdies held firm to take victory

  • New York's pair of goals against the Rowdies extended its current run of two-goal games to seven, as the side reached 50 goals this season in Wednesday night's contest. 

  • The Red Bulls II cannot clinch a place in the playoffs on Saturday night, with with a win would go into its final game of the regular season against the Rochester Rhinos in control of its playoff destiny.

  • New York is 3-0-1 all-time against OCB, including a 4-0 victory in the USL Cup Playoffs a season ago. The Red Bulls II took a 3-1 victory when the teams met for the first time this season at MSU Soccer Park.
