Sacramento Republic FC news and notes

  • Current record: 12-9-6, 42pts

  • Sacramento saw its two-game winning streak end on Saturday as it fell 3-1 to OKC Energy FC in front of a sellout crowd at Papa Murphy’s Park.

  • Energy FC scored twice in the opening 10 minutes, and Republic FC was unable to muster a comeback despite Emrah Klimenta’s second half goal.

  • Republic FC has conceded goals in the opening minute of each of its past two contests, and Saturday’s loss saw the side drop to seventh place in the USL Western Conference.

  • Sacramento sits fifth in the USL with 390 shots this season, but has a chance conversion rate of only 13 percent, tied for 19th in the league.

Real Monarchs SLC news and notes

  • The Monarchs saw their winless streak reach four games on Friday night as it played to a 0-0 draw against Orange County SC at Rio Tinto Stadium.

  • The Monarchs’ lead in the race for the USL Regular Season Championship is now down to two points, with both Eastern Conference-leader Louisville City FC and Reno 1868 FC having closed the gap in recent weeks.

  • Real is set to complete its trip with a visit to face 1868 FC at Greater Nevada Field, a contest that could be for first place in the Western Conference if the Monarchs are unable to take victory on Wednesday.

Series Notes

  • The Monarchs took a 2-0 victory when the teams first met this season at Rio Tinto Stadium, and now hold a 3-2-2 lead in the all-time series.
