Orlando City B news and notes

  • Current record: 8-8-12, 36pts

  • Orlando City B fell for a second consecutive outing last Saturday night as it suffered a 2-0 defeat against Saint Louis FC at Toyota Stadium – Saint Louis.

  • Despite holding a man-advantage for much of the second half, Orlando was unable to overcome a halftime deficit as it conceded a penalty kick that the hosts converted in the 62nd minute to seal the result.

  • The defeat left OCB in eighth place in the USL Eastern Conference standings, with both Bethlehem Steel FC – which holds two games in hand – and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds sitting a point back in the standings.

  • Orlando City Stadium has not been a sweet home for OCB, which has claimed only two wins at home in the 2017 regular season. The side fell 2-0 to the Richmond Kickers in its last home outing.

Charleston Battery news and notes

  • Current record: 13-7-8, 43pts

  • The Battery will clinch a place in the 2017 USL Cup Playoffs should they take either a win or a draw against Orlando.

  • Charleston took its second consecutive victory on Wednesday night as it defeated the second-place Charlotte Independence 3-0 at MUSC Health Stadium.

  • Cuban forward Heviel Cordoves scored two goals in the win, while Ricky Garbanzo notched the second goal of the night between Cordoves’ tallies.

  • The victory moved Charleston one point back of the Independence for second place in the USL Eastern Conference going into this weekend's action.

  • The Battery will have Jamaican international Romario Williams available for selection on Saturday night after his suspension for a red card last Saturday was reduced to one game, which was served on Wednesday night.

Series Notes

  • OCB holds the only win in four meetings between the teams, with the other three contests having ended in draws after a 0-0 draw at MUSC Health Stadium in July.
