Low, reflex stop for Galaxy II against Switchbacks topped weekly poll

TAMPA, Fla. – LA Galaxy II goalkeeper Eric Lopez earned the USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 22 of the 2017 season, with his low, reflex save in Los Dos’ 2-1 victory against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC last Saturday night finishing top of the weekly online poll.

The 18-year-old has become a regular presence for the Galaxy II this season, his third as a professional, and has made numerous good stops this season. Against the Switchbacks, his reaction save to turn aside a low free kick by Masta Kacher from the left as it went untouched through the advancing runners at the top of the six-yard area was maybe his best of the U.S. U18 international’s season so far.

Lopez received 48 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday morning, beating out Orange County SC goalkeeper Charlie Lyon’s excellent double-save against Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Aug. 15, which finished on 45 percent. Saint Louis FC goalkeeper Adam Grinwis’ save to deny the Pittsburgh Riverhounds’ Corey Hertzog took third.
