COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – An own goal three minutes from time gave LA Galaxy II a big victory as they managed a 2-1 win over the Colorado Springs Switchbacks at Weidner Field on Friday night. In the 52nd minute LA Galaxy II stunned Colorado Springs as Ariel Lassiter received a switched ball, controlled well with his chest, and took a shot across the face, catching Moise Pouaty off guard. Colorado Springs thought they’d equalized in the 57th minute as Eddy Prugh had the ball in the back of the net but was called out for a foul. On the free-kick Vercollone stole possession but the referee blew the play off after the quickly taken free-kick. The Switchbacks did eventually get back on level terms as Jack Jones let a ball run to substitute Aaron King who snuck it home under Eric Lopez. An own goal gave LA Galaxy II the win as Sean McFarlane redirected an LA cross past his own keeper

Three Things That Matter:
1. The Colorado Springs Switchbacks were dangerous in the first half from corner kicks, having six corners in the first 45. The decline of the Switchbacks during the match can be tied to the drop in corner kicks. That drop partially came from the predictability of the corners from the Switchbacks, always going to the far post, allowing LA to clear, making it an unattractive proposition to the Switchbacks.
2. When LA Galaxy II score first they rarely lose, especially on the road, where they have now won twice as many matches (four) as they have at home (two). LA Galaxy II has now not lost after scoring first since May 27th against Phoenix Rising
3. After getting back in to the playoff places with three straight wins, two straight losses has now thrown Colorado Springs straight back in to the mixer. While they can’t drop out of the top eight this weekend, they are four points clear, it is likely they will be only one point clear by the end of the weekend.
