TAMPA, Fla. – Charlotte Independence forward Jorge Herrera has been voted the USL Player of the Month for July of the 2017 season. Herrera recorded eight goals and two assists as the Independence recorded an undefeated 5-0-2 record over the month, and as a result surpassed the 50 goal-mark in the USL regular season for his career, only the second player in league history to do so.
Herrera received 66 percent of a weighted poll that included the USL Technical Committee, a national panel of independent media representing every USL market, and an online fan vote held at USLSoccer.com. Real Monarchs SLC forward Chandler Hoffman finished second with 17 percent, and FC Cincinnati forward Djiby Fall took third with 10 percent.
