OTTAWA – Ottawa Fury FC announced on Thursday the club had signed of 19-year-old Ugandan forward Azake Luboyera. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

Luboyera has been training with the club for a few months already and is expected to be available for selection against Toronto FC II next week.

"Azake is someone who has a huge amount of potential and we believe in him," said Fury FC GM and Head Coach, Paul Dalglish. "We're really excited to bring him into our squad.

"Even though he's young, I think he can compete for minutes straight away. If he can translate the goal scoring ability and creativity that he's shown in training into the game, then we'll have a real prospect in our hands.”

The 5-foot-7 Luboyera was born and raised in Uganda. He started playing soccer for the Hans Production Academy in Uganda at 14 years of age, before being recruited by the Qatar Aspire Football Dreams Academy where he played from 2012 to 2014. In three seasons in Qatar, Luboyera scored more than 80 goals in more than 100 games.

In 2015, Luboyera moved to Canada and joined Fury FC's Senior Academy. After training with the club during his first season, the Kampala, Uganda native played 10 games in 2016, scoring three goals and adding seven assists. He was also named to the RDS 3 Stars of the week for the PLSQ in July 2016.

Luboyera also boasts international experience as he played two games for Uganda U20 team in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifications in 2016, during which he netted two goals.
