Rangers’ game-winner against Los Dos claims honors in weekly poll

TAMPA, Fla. – Swope Park Rangers forward Nansel Selbol has earned the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for Week 15 of the 2017 season, as his sharp finish that proved to be the game-winning goal against the LA Galaxy II last Friday night at StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium took top spot in the weekly online poll.

Selbol came on as a substitute just past the hour-mark for the Rangers, and had an almost instantaneous impact. The Nigerian forward created space for himself in the penalty area as he drifted away from his marker, putting him in position to be found by Tyler Pasher from the left side of the penalty area. Selbol controlled and fired low into the right corner for the goal that proved the difference in the game, and extended the Rangers’ undefeated streak to six games.

Selbol’s goal earned 41 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday morning. Sacramento Republic FC’s Emrah Klimenta finished second with 37 percent for his fine finish to open the scoring against San Antonio FC last Saturday night, while Louisville City FC’s Brian Ownby took third with 11 percent for his excellent counterattack strike off a perfect pass by Paolo DelPiccolo against Ottawa Fury FC.
