TAMPA, Fla. – The following is the USL’s discipline report for Week 14 of the 2017 United Soccer League season:
OKC Energy FC forward Miguel Gonzalez was issued a three-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for his violent conduct during the club’s 3-2 loss to Seattle Sounders FC 2 on June 19. He was sent off during the first half. Gonzalez served the first game of that suspension on Saturday against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2. He will also miss the July 5 match at Real Monarchs SLC and the July 8 home game against Tulsa Roughnecks FC.
Three players were issued their fifth cautions of the season in Week 14, resulting in one-game suspensions and an undisclosed fine. Colorado Springs Switchbacks defender Josh Suggs will miss Saturday’s home game against Rio Grande Valley FC and Richmond Kickers defender Chris Durkin is suspended for Saturday’s road match against Bethlehem Steel FC. Swope Park Rangers midfielder James Musa, who was issued his fifth yellow card during last Wednesday’s win against Colorado Springs, served his suspension Tuesday night against Tulsa Roughnecks FC.
Elsewhere, San Antonio FC goalkeeper Diego Restrepo, who was sent off during the club’s 1-0 loss at Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC this past Saturday, will serve a one-game suspension this Saturday at Sacramento Republic FC.
Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2’s Dominick Zator was issued two cautions and sent off during WFC2’s 2-2 draw with OKC Energy FC. He will serve his one-game suspension on Saturday against Seattle. S2’s Ray Saari also was issued two cautions and subsequently sent off during Seattle’s 3-2 win against OKC on June 19. Saari served his one-game suspension this past Saturday during the club’s 4-3 loss at Orange County SC.
Harrisburg City Islanders defender Lee Nishanian, sent off during the latter portion of the club’s 1-0 loss against Bethlehem Steel FC on June 20, served a one-game suspension last Saturday during Harrisburg’s 1-0 victory against Louisville City FC.
Monarchs Head Coach Mark Briggs was issued a one-game suspension for abusive language directed toward an official on June 19 against Reno 1868 FC. Briggs was dismissed from the game and served his suspension on Saturday against Phoenix Rising FC. Real’s Bryan Russ, the Monarchs’ strength and conditioning coach, was dismissed from that 1-1 draw against Phoenix and will not be on the bench for the Monarchs’ road match against Tulsa Roughnecks FC this Saturday.
The following 23 players enter their upcoming matches one caution away from a yellow card accumulation suspension. A fifth caution would result in a one-game suspension and undisclosed fine. Here is the breakdown per club:
