BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bethlehem Steel FC forward Cory Burke has been called into Jamaica’s national team for the team’s international exhibition against Peru on June 13, joining Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Andre Blake on the squad. The first meeting between the teams since 2010 will be held at the Estadio Monumental de la UNSA in Arequipa, Peru.

His selection marks Burke’s fourth consecutive senior team call up. He received his first in 2017 earlier this season, making two appearances in a pair of international friendlies. Burke started when Jamaica faced the United States on February 3, and came on as a second-half substitute against Honduras on February 16.

Late last year, Burke helped the Reggae Boyz to victories over Guyana and Suriname in Caribbean Cup qualification, notching his first international goal in the extra time win over Guyana in October. Burke also scored the winning goal against Suriname in November to help secure Jamaica’s berth into the 2017 Gold Cup.

For Bethlehem in 2017, Burke has appeared in 10 matches (nine starts), scoring two goals in 829 minutes. Scoring twice from the spot, Burke notched the game-winner against Toronto FC II on May 13 and scored his other goal against in-state rival Harrisburg City Islanders on May 28. Burke is currently second in all-time goals for the club with six tallies.

The friendly at Peru serves as a tune-up for Jamaica ahead of the 2017 Caribbean Cup and the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup, with the Reggae Boyz set to participate in both tournaments later this summer.
