PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers 2 announced on Wednesday the club had signed midfielder Terrell Lowe, a former member of the Timbers Academy. Per league and club policy, terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Lowe played in 10 matches (six starts) for T2 in 2016 after being named the 2015 Timbers Academy Player of the Year. Lowe, a Hillsboro, Ore., native who joined the Timbers Academy in 2013, also has appeared with the U.S. U-14, U-17, and U-19 national teams.

The 18-year-old most recently played at the University of Virginia, where he appeared in 20 games (19 starts) during the 2016 season and was named to the 2016 ACC All-Freshman Team and All-ACC Academic Team.

“We are pleased to announce the signing of Terrell Lowe into our T2 program,” said Andrew Gregor, head coach of T2. “Having developed as a homegrown in our academy system and deciding to continue that development with T2 is going to be a great challenge in his career.

“Terrell is a young, ambitious player who wants to continue that vertical development in the Portland Timbers system. We are looking forward to his continued growth and development at the T2 level and hopefully helping him achieve his ultimate professional goals at this club.”
