TAMPA, Fla. – Pittsburgh Riverhounds forward Corey Hertzog won the fan’s vote for the USL Goal of the Week for the opening week of the 2017 season, adding to his USL Player of the Week accolade on Tuesday. Hertzog’s highlight-reel finish, the first of two goals in a 3-3 draw against defending USL Cup champions the New York Red Bulls II, saw the Riverhounds marksman claim the prize.
Hertzog received 43 percent of the poll conducted at USLSoccer.com this week, while Juan Caffa of Tulsa Roughnecks FC finished second with 34 percent and Sacramento Republic FC’s Emrah Klimenta third with 14 percent.
