NEW YORK – The Professional Referee Organization has announced 2016 Copa America Centenario referee Armando Villarreal will lead the officiating crew for the 2016 USL Cup Final, Presented by Nike, on Sunday night at Red Bull Arena.

Villarreal officiated his first MLS regular season contest on May 23, 2012, in a game between the New York Red Bulls and Chivas USA, and has been the center official for 75 games in MLS since then. In 2015, he was added to the FIFA list, and this summer was appointed as one of the three U.S. referee representatives at the 2016 Copa America Centenario.

The 30-year-old was also previously the center official in the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup between Seattle Sounders FC and the Philadelphia Union, and has also officiated in the CONCACAF Champions League over the past two seasons.

Villarreal will be joined by Assistant Referees Brian Dunn and Nick Uranga, who was also an AR at the 2016 NWSL Championship between the Western New York Flash and Washington Spirit. The Fourth Official will be Henrik Karlsson, and the reserve Assistant Referee is Justen Lopez.

The 2016 USL Cup will air live on ESPNU, the WatchESPN app and will be simulcast on SiriusXM FC 85 on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 8 p.m. ET. Full online coverage of the 2016 USL Cup will also be available on the league’s Playoff Center, with updates also available via Twitter, Facebook, Vine and Instagram.
