Two of the leading candidates to claim this year’s USL Golden Boot will square off this Saturday at World Wide Technology Soccer Park when Saint Louis FC and Irvin Herrera host Louisville City FC and Chandler Hoffman in the second meeting for the Kings' Cup this season.
An El Salvador international, Herrera has been the guiding light for Saint Louis’ attack this season, and catapulted himself back into the Golden Boot race last Saturday night with a hat trick against San Antonio FC. With 14 goals on the season, Herrera sits one goal behind current co-leaders Sean Okoli of FC Cincinnati and Jack McBean of the LA Galaxy II for the league-lead.
Hoffman also sits on 14 goals this season, but has seen his scoring touch go missing over an eight-game streak without a goal. With the playoffs approaching, and the chance to clinch the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference with a positive result on the road, Hoffman will be looking to get back on track and continue his pursuit of not only the Golden Boot, but a second USL All-League selection.
Which player do you think will lead his side to victory on Saturday afternoon?
