Rangers look to build on midweek draw as they return home to face Blues

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Swope Park Rangers and Orange County Blues FC face a key game in the Western Conference playoff race at Children’s Mercy Victory Field on Saturday night, with each sporting identical records as they sit a point back of the eighth and final playoff spot. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.

Swope Park Rangers news and notes

  • Current record: 6-8-4, 22pts
  • The Rangers grabbed a 1-1 draw in Colorado Springs on Wednesday night as Alex Molano's stoppage-time free kick earned the side a point at Switchbacks Stadium.
  • Swope Park is 2-1-2 in its last five games, and sits a point behind Saint Louis FC for the eighth and final playoff berth in the Western Conference.
  • The Rangers face three of the teams they’re battling in the Western Conference playoff race in their next three games, with Saturday’s game with the Blues followed by games with San Antonio and Saint Louis.

  • The Blues are coming off a 2-1 defeat to OKC Energy FC last Saturday that saw all three goals scored in the span of 12 minutes in the first half.
  • Orange County leveled the score on Trevin Caesar’s fourth goal of the season, but OKC took victory on Wojciech Wojcik’s 34th-minute finish.
  • The Blues will be without leading scorer Didier Crettenand, who was announced as sideline for two weeks after missing the game in OKC.
  • Orange County is tied for second in the USL with 38 yellow cards this season.
