Key Western Conference clash sees standout forward matchup this Saturday

With the two teams separated by two points in the Western Conference standings, the clash between Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and Sacramento Republic FC this Saturday night at Switchbacks Stadium is one of the must-see games of the upcoming weekend.

Both teams have been strong defensively this season, which will put a major onus on forwards Miguel Gonzalez for the Switchbacks and Cameron Iwasa for Republic FC as their respective teams look for a key victory in the race for playoff positioning.

Gonzalez has recorded three goals and one assist this season, following up on a strong first season with the Switchbacks that saw him notch 10 goals and seven assists. A former standout in the PDL with the Kitsap Pumas, Gonzalez has been a key figure in Colorado Springs’ success in its first two seasons in the USL.

Iwasa has had a breakout season for Republic FC this year, and leads the team with six goals this season for his hometown club. With Sacramento looking to bridge the three-point gap that separates itself from current conference leader Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2, Iwasa’s ability to find the net has paired well with the recent run of form by midfielder Danny Barrera, who has six assists in the past five games for the side.

Which player do you think will play the key role in Saturday night’s contest in Colorado Springs?
