RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond Kickers return to City Stadium this Saturday night when they host Louisville City FC in the 2015 regular season home opener, presented by Woodfin, at 5 p.m. The pre-game party starts at 3:30 p.m. with live music from The Trillions, Family Zone, food trucks, craft beer, including Kick It Hunny, on tap and the first 500 fans through the gate will receive a replica jersey t-shirt. Fans are encouraged to follow the game on social media using #RICvLOU and tickets are on sale now at RichmondKickers.com.

The Kickers opened the 2015 campaign on the road last weekend with a 2-2 draw in Wilmington. Rallying from a two-goal deficit, the Kickers scored a pair of goals either side of the halftime break, courtesy of Jalen Robinson and Kickers’ all-time leading scorer, Matthew Delicâte.  Meanwhile, expansion side Louisville City had a memorable USL debut, treating its 6,000-plus fans at Louisville Slugger Field to a 2-0 victory against Saint Louis FC behind goals by Magnus Rasmussen and Charlie Adams.

Saturday’s match-up marks the first between the two clubs who close out the two-game series in Louisville on Saturday, July 4.  Following this weekend’s home opener, the Kickers return to City Stadium to host Wilmington on Friday, April 10.

Players to Watch
Kickers: Forward Jason Yeisley first signed with the Kickers in 2012, starting 56 of 64 games played over three seasons while amassing over 4,500 minutes in a Kickers uniform.  Making a triumphant return to the field after a nearly 10-month hiatus due to injury last season, the Allentown, PA native finished fourth on the team in scoring, adding five goals and four assists en route to the Semifinal Round of the 2014 USL Playoffs. Midfielder Yudai Imura earned his first professional contract with the Kickers this preseason. Previously, the 5-foot-10 native of Tokyo spent one season with Yokogawa Musashino FC of the Japan Football League where he recorded four goals in nine appearances. Returning for his seventh season in Richmond, 2009 Defender of the Year William Yomby received his sixth consecutive All-League First Team nod in 2014 after allowing just 28 goals in 27 appearances while contributing to seven shutouts on the season. Over the past six seasons, he has made 154 appearances in a Kickers uniform, amassing over 13,000 minutes, adding 11 goals and four assists.

Louisville: Midfielder Magnus Rasmussen scored the first goal in club history and added an assist as Louisville defeated St. Louis last week, earning USL Team of the Week honors.  The 21-year old native of Denmark signed with Louisville for the inaugural season after a stint in the Danish Second Division. Matt Fondy signed with Louisville after making 15 appearances with MLS sides Chivas USA and Chicago Fire. A USL veteran, the forward began his professional career with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in 2011, emerging as a top scorer in the two years that followed, leading the Los Angeles Blues with 14 goals in 29 appearances. Defender Conor Shanosky spent two seasons with the Kickers while on loan from the club’s MLS affiliate, D.C. United. Integral on both sides of the ball, he combined for 35 appearances over two seasons, contributing to seven shutouts while also adding a pair of goals during the 2014 campaign.
