WILMINGTON, N.C. – Wilmington Hammerheads FC travels north this weekend for its first road matches of the 2015 USL regular season. Wilmington is set to face the Richmond Kickers on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET at City Stadium and New York Red Bulls II on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. ET at Red Bull Arena.

Wilmington enters Friday’s match against Richmond following a 1-1 draw with the Charlotte Independence last weekend at Legion Stadium. Hammerheads forward Nick Zimmerman notched his first goal of the season off a penalty kick minutes before the halftime break, but Charlotte’s Enzo Martinez denied Wilmington victory with a goal in the second half.

The Hammerheads hosted the Kickers two weeks prior for their first match of the season, which ended in a 2-2 draw. Richmond’s Jalen Robinson and Matthew Delicâte both found the back of the net to level the score after goals by Wilmington’s Troy Cole and Justin Moose early in the first half. Friday’s match will be the second of three meetings between the Hammerheads and Kickers scheduled for the regular season.

“We continue to work through our weaknesses and improve our strengths on the training field,” said Wilmington Hammerheads FC Technical Director and Head Coach Carson Porter. “I know the guys are excited about the trip. Two more good teams and two more good experiences for our players.”

New York Red Bulls II claimed their first victory in franchise history last weekend against Toronto FC II at Red Bull Arena. Anatole Abang, Shawn McLaws, Marius Obekop, and Leo Stolz each tallied a goal to clinch the 4-1 inaugural win for Red Bulls II. McLaws earned USL Team of the Week honors for his performance.

Friday’s match at City Stadium will be broadcast live on the Kickers’ YouTube channel atwww.youtube.com/RichmondKickers. Sunday’s match will air on Red Bull II’s YouTube channel. Fans in Wilmington can join Hammerheads staff and supporters at Carolina Ale House on both dates for watch parties to watch the team live on the road.

Wilmington is set to host its next home match on Sunday, April 26 against the Charleston Battery at 3 p.m. ET at Legion Stadium. Flex packages and single tickets are available for purchase online.
