Rhinos Take Lead in East, Blank Saint Louis FC

ST. LOUIS – The Rochester Rhinos earned a 1-0 victory against Saint Louis FC in front of 5,001 fans at the World Wild Technology Soccer Park on Saturday night.

The Rhinos improved to 3-0-2 and moved ahead of the Charleston Battery (3-0-1) into first place in the Eastern Conference. Colin Rolfe scored the decisive goal for the visitors in the 78th minute, racing onto a through ball and beating goalkeeper Alec Kann at the far post.

With the loss, Saint Louis dropped to 1-2-1 on the season.

Charles Renken and Mike Ambersley both had chances to score for the hosts in the second half, but neither was able to make the breakthrough.

Rochester outshot STL FC 11-4 over the 90 minutes, with Kann making four saves in his first start for Saint Louis.

Rochester will now head back home to Sahlen’s Stadium to host the New York Red Bulls II on Sunday, April 26. Next up for Saint Louis FC is a road game against Oklahoma City Energy FC on Saturday, April 25, at Taft Stadium.
