LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After a monumental weekend that saw Louisville City FC capture three points in their first ever USL match in front of more than 6,000 fans, Louisville's new pro soccer team will head out of town for their first road match in franchise history. This Saturday, Louisville City will visit a Richmond Kickers side playing its 2015 home opener. It is a team that made it to the semifinals of the USL Playoffs last season, and previously featured now Louisville City FC center-back, Conor Shanosky.

"I know the players and coaches at Richmond pretty well,” Shanosky said. "Even with a couple of moving parts, they return their core group of guys. They have been very good the last couple of years and this year is no different."

Shanosky, a native of Virginia, was part of D.C. United from 2010-2014. It's a homecoming for the 6-foot-4 defender, but he says the focus is all on the game.

"It will certainly be nice to play in front of family and friends," Shanosky said. "However, the game at hand is the issue. That's all that is on my mind. We need to be on our game."

Richmond is coming off of a 2-2 tie with the Wilmington Hammerheads. After falling behind 2-0, the Kickers scored two goals, courtesy of Jalen Robinson and Matthew Delicate, to equalize. Richmond got 16 shots off, forcing Wilmington goalkeeper, Larry Jackson, to make several saves to prevent Richmond from stealing all three points.

Louisville will try to keep the momentum of last week going. A goal in each half gave the expansion team a 2-0 win over Saint Louis FC. Magnus Rasmussen beat the keeper for the first goal in franchise history in the 24th minute and Charlie Adams smashed in the second in the 67th minute off of a back-heel pass from Guy Abend.
