SANDY, Utah - As the minutes wound down on the Real Monarchs SLC’s second match of the season against LA Galaxy II, it looked like it would end the same as the first – in a scoreless draw.

However, Galaxy defender Bradley Diallo had different plans, netting a stoppage-time goal to send the Monarchs to them to their third consecutive defeat, 1-0 at Rio Tinto Stadium.

The Galaxy threatened the goal in the 31st minute with a slew of shots form inside the penalty area. Monarchs goalkeeper Eric Osswald was up to the task, though, and kept Los Dos out of the net and the match remained scoreless.

In the 38th minute, Monarchs defender Jordan Murrell forced a low-angle save from LA goalkeeper Clement Diop. Murrell made an overlapping run up the left side and blasted a near-post shot that Diop palmed away for a corner kick and the score remained 0-0.

Four minutes later, Real midfielder Lucas Baldin nearly broke the tie in emphatic fashion. After a foul against the sideline near the Galaxy II's bench, Baldin stood over the ball and rifled a shot from 45 yards out that needed a last-second swipe of the glove by Diop to prevent the goal, giving the Monarchs another corner kick.

The second half saw more of the same, but the game lacked the fluidity of the first half as the rains came pouring down until Diallo’s stoppage-time winner.

The Monarchs will host the Sacramento Republic on Wednesday at Rio Tinto Stadium. Los Dos, meanwhile, will return home to host Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 next Sunday night at StubHub Center.
