TULSA, Okla. – Saint Louis FC picked up the first win in club history Thursday night, defeating Tulsa Roughnecks FC 2-0 at ONEOK Field.

STL FC (1-1-0, 3 points) got a goal in each half, with Jermie Lynch scoring just before halftime before Bryan Gaul doubled the visitors’ advantage early in the second half.

Goalkeeper Mark Pais made five saves in goal, including some important stops late in the match, to earn his first clean sheet with Saint Louis FC.

After a dominant first half that included several great chances, Lynch scored in the 42nd minute to give Saint Louis FC the lead it deserved.

Off of a corner kick, Gaul had a shot cleared off the line by a Tulsa defender, only for Lynch to pounce on the rebound and send his shot high into the net.

It was the Jamaican’s third goal at ONEOK Field, after he scored twice in a preseason game against Tulsa on March 21.

Shortly after halftime, Gaul extended the visitors’ lead with a goal of his own. Richard Dixon got things started by keeping the ball in play at the Tulsa end line.  The ball eventually found Gaul, who made no mistake on the turn from the top of the box.

Tulsa (0-1-1, 1 point) pushed for a goal in the late stages of the match, but Pais was equal to everything the host side threw at him.

Next up, Saint Louis FC prepares for its home opener on April 11 against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Kickoff at the Soccer Park is at 7:30 p.m. CT. The Tulsa Roughnecks stay at home to face the Austin Aztex at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday at ONEOK Field.
