SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC announced on Friday it had acquired defender Tiago Suarez on loan from the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer for the 2026 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval and per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Originally from Rocklin, Calif., Suarez came up through the youth academy at Sacramento Republic FC, seeing action in six league matches during the team’s 2022 campaign. The center back recorded 16 recoveries, and 10 clearances in 335 minutes while also winning 16 duels at a 76.2 percent success rate and five tackles at a 71.4 percent success rate.
The 20-year-old then signed with the Revolution and logged 50 appearances with reserve team Revolution II in MLS NEXT Pro over the 2023 and 2024 season. During the 2024 campaign, Suarez notched his first professional goal while winning 81 duels at a 56.6 percent success rate and recording 64 recoveries and 19 interceptions.
Last season, Suarez joined USL Championship club Birmingham Legion FC on loan, where he made 22 appearances across all competitions. In league play, he recorded 37 recoveries, 12 interceptions and 60 clearances in 1,365 minutes while also winning 83 duels at a 61.9 percent success rate and 15 tackles at a 57.7 percent success rate.
