DETROIT – Detroit City FC announced on Wednesday it had signed midfielder Kobe Hernandez-Foster to a new one-year contract through the 2026 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Hernandez-Foster joined Detroit City in late July 2025 via transfer from Birmingham Legion FC and immediately made an impact, recording one one goal, two assists and 22 chances created in 14 appearances.
Before joining Detroit, Hernandez-Foster spent the 2024 season and the early part of 2025 with Birmingham Legion, where he recorded two goals, five assists and 77 chances created in 49 appearances, logging 3,975 minutes.
A graduate of the LA Galaxy Academy, Hernandez-Foster began his career in the USL Championship with the LA Galaxy II, making three appearances across the 2018 and 2019 seasons before joining German club VfL Wolfsburg's academy in 2020, where he registered two assists in five appearances for the U19 team. He made his first-team debut on July 6, 2021, in a preseason friendly victory against Erzgebirge Aue.
He then played two seasons in the top division of Norwegian football, the Eliteserien, with Hamarkameratene in 2022 and 2023, appearing in 42 matches across all competitions. He picked up one goal and one assist in the 3,030 minutes for the Norwegian side before returning to the United States with Legion.
