ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico United announced on Monday the club had signed goalkeeper Raiko Arozarena ahead of the 2026 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Arozarena joins United having spent the past two seasons with Las Vegas Lights FC, logging 50 appearances across the USL Championship regular season and playoffs. The 28-year-old recorded 152 saves at a save percentage of 68.5 while posting 19 shutouts as he helped lead the Lights to their first trip to the USL Championship Playoffs in the 2024 campaign.

A Cuban international, Arozarenz has recorded four saves on nine penalty kicks in his career in the Championship, and steered the Lights to a penalty shootout victory against Sacramento Republic FC in the Western Conference Quarterfinals of the 2024 postseason. His move reunites him with current United Head Coach Dennis Sanchez.

At the international level, Arozarena has represented Cuba, most notably participating in the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup. He has earned 17 caps for his home country, recording six shutouts, while also competing in FIFA World Cup Qualifying and Concacaf Nations League play.

His club honors include being part of the Tampa Bay Rowdies’ 2021 squad that won both the USL Championship Players’ Shield and the Eastern Conference title in the 2021 USL Championship Playoffs.
