JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sporting Club Jacksonville has announced the signing of forwards Emil Jääskeläinen and Adonijah Reid ahead of its first season in the USL Championship. The transactions are pending league and federation approval.
Jääskeläinen joins Sporting JAX after a sterling rookie campaign for St. Louis CITY2 of MLS NEXT Pro in which he recorded seven goals and eight assists in 28 appearances across the regular season and playoffs. The 24-year-old – who is the son of former Premier League goalkeeper Jussi Jääskeläinen – notched 68 shots and 42 chances created and won four penalty kicks in the campaign, and ranked first among strikers in American Soccer Analysis’ Goals Added metric with a +9.02 grade.
The 6-foot-3 striker had previously been selected with the No. 7 pick of the 2025 Major League Soccer SuperDraft by St. Louis City SC, and received multiple short-term call-ups to the First Team during the past campaign. Jääskeläinen scored 23 goals for the University of Akron in his senior season of college soccer, earning Big East Offensive Player of the Year and First‑Team All‑Big East honors while also being a finalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy.
Reid joins Jacksonville having spent the past campaign with Inter Toronto FC of the Canadian Premier League, where he recorded four goals and four assists in 1,412 minutes across 27 appearances. The 26-year-old brings prior experience from the USL Championship, where he competed for both Ottawa Fury FC in the 2017-18 seasons and Miami FC in the 2021-22 seasons. Reid has previously recorded 14 goals and six assists in 94 appearances across the regular season and playoffs.
