PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC announced on Friday the club had signed defender Victor Souza for the 2026 USL Championship season with a club option for the 2027 campaign. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Souza spent his first three professional seasons with New England Revolution II in MLS NEXT Pro, where he recorded 70 appearances and helped the side reach the 2023 Eastern Conference Final of the MLSNP Playoffs. He had previously been selected by the Revolution in the Second Round of the 2023 MLS SuperDraft out of Boston College, where he was a two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference Third Team selection.
“After a successful college career in the ACC and three strong years in MLS Next Pro, Victor is well prepared for the demands of USL Championship soccer,” said Hounds Sporting Director Dan Visser. “He has everything we look for in a center back, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to Pittsburgh.”
The 24-year-old logged 25 appearances in the past campaign, completing 1,213 passes at a 90.3 percent accuracy rate while recording 65 recoveries and 15 interceptions and winning 97 duels at a 70.3 percent success rate. He also recorded one appearance with the Revolution in the U.S. Open Cup, recording an assist off the bench against the Chicago Fire in the Round of 16.
Hailing from the Ozone Park neighborhood in Queens, N.Y., Souza played in the New York City FC Academy as a youth player, helping them to a 2019 national championship before beginning his college career.
