COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Wednesday it had signed forward Sadam Masereka to a multi-year contract through the 2027 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Masereka enters the professional ranks with the Switchbacks following a standout senior season at the University of Maryland last fall, where he was named to the 2025 United Soccer Coaches All-North Region First Team and All-Big Ten First Team after recording nine goals and five assists in 1,508 minutes across 19 appearances.

“Sadam is an extremely driven, intelligent, and intrinsically motivated character. He has done very well to rise through the ranks in college soccer from Lindsey Wilson to Maryland,” said Head Coach Alan McCann. “He will add more danger and threat to our attack as a winger, and we are looking forward to him putting his stamp on the league.”

A native of Kampala, Uganda, Masereka was a standout at Lindsey Wilson College over his first two years in college, recording 22 goals and seven assists in 36 appearances. He was voted to the 2023 United Soccer Coaches NAIA All-America First Team and the 2022 NAIA Men's Soccer First Team All-American while also earning All-Mid-South Conference honors in both seasons for the Blue Raiders.

Transferring to Maryland, Masereka recorded four goals and two assists in 1,432 minutes as a junior for the Terrapins before his standout senior campaign. In December, he was selected with the No. 34 pick of the 2025 Major League Soccer SuperDraft by Sporting Kansas City, and now heads to Colorado Springs to start his pro career.

“Excited to start my professional career with the Switchbacks,” said Masereka. “I can't wait to play and meet the fans.”
