Indy Eleven brings aboard defender Anthony Herbert

INDIANAPOLIS – Indy Eleven announced on Wednesday it had signed defender Anthony Herbert ahead of the 2026 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval and per club policy, terms of the deal will not be disclosed.

Herbert joins Indy having spent the past campaign with both New Mexico United and Las Vegas Lights FC, where he combined for 15 appearances in the USL Championship around a midseason move to Las Vegas. The 27-year-old recorded 46 recoveries, nine interceptions, 67 clearances and 10 blocked shots in 871 minutes of action and also won 52 duels at a 61.2 percent success and 12 tackles at a 66.7 percent success rate.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Herbert had previously recorded 23 appearances and logged 1,811 minutes for United in the 2024 season when the side finished top of the Western Conference for the first time in its history. He won 90 duels at a 63.8 percent success rate and logged 15 blocked shots while also making 19 interceptions, 64 clearances and 56 recoveries.

Herbert began his pro career with FC Haka in Finland’s top division in 2022-23, with 32 appearances in two seasons, and has also competed for the Trinidad and Tobago Men’s National Team, making his senior debut against Thailand in September, 2022.
