Louisville City inks Kevon Lambert to multi-year contract

Jamaican international re-joins club after strong season on loan from Real Salt Lake in 2025 campaign

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville City FC announced on Monday it had signed midfielder Kevon  Lambert to a two-year contract ahead of the 2026 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Lambert signs a new deal with LouCity after an impressive 2025 campaign on loan with the club from Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer. The 28-year-old recorded 26 appearances across all competitions and recorded three goals and added two assists while also leading the club and ranking tied for fourth in the USL Championship’s regular season with 176 duels won at a 57.5 percent success rate.

“I’m super excited to return to LouCity. I enjoyed being here last season and can’t wait to represent this club and city again and to win more trophies,” said Lambert. “We have the best team and the best fans, and I’m really happy to be calling here home.”

The versatile central midfielder also ended the campaign among the club’s top-three in recoveries (89), while winning 22 tackles at a 73.3 percent success rate and recording 18 interceptions.

“We are excited to be able to announce Kev as a Louisville City player for years to come,” said LouCity Head Coach Danny Cruz. “His work rate, mentality and presence played a significant role in our success last season. I am excited to be able to continue our work together and to have him back with our group. I know he is hungry to continue to improve, and we will do everything we can to put him in a position to continue to succeed.”

Originally from the third-largest parish in Jamaica, Clarendon, Lambert has been a mainstay in the USL Championship since joining Phoenix Rising FC in August, 2017. The native of Clarendon, Jamaica won two Western Conference titles (2018, 2020) and the USL Championship Players’ Shield (2019) before his transfer to Real Salt Lake in 2023. Overall, he has recorded 195 regular season appearances and logged 19 goals and 12 assists in 15,869 minutes in the Championship.

On the international stage, Lambert has 28 caps to his name for the Reggae Boyz, with his senior debut coming in February 2017.
