Six-figure transfer includes conditional clauses which could become largest transaction in USL Championship history

LEXINGTON, Ky.  – Lexington SC announced on Tuesday it had acquired forward Phillip Goodrum via transfer from Louisville City FC for a six-figure transfer fee including conditional clauses which could see the transaction become the highest between two USL Championship clubs in league history. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Goodrum joins Lexington having recorded 17 goals and one assist across 41 appearances and 2,318 minutes in the regular season and playoffs for LouCity since joining the club midway through the 2024 USL Championship season. The 28-year-old logged has recorded 62 goals and 17 assists across the regular season and playoffs in the USL Championship over the course of his career, which also featured stints at Atlanta United 2, Memphis 901 FC and FC Tulsa.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Lexington SC,” said Goodrum. “After hearing the vision for this club, it’s hard to not want to be a part of it. When speaking to [Head Coach] Mac [Hemmi] and the front office, I really knew this would be a good fit, and I thank them all for putting their trust in me. I’m a goal-scoring center forward, and fans can expect to see me play with a lot of personality and freedom that will hopefully turn into lots of goals.”

Goodrum posted a career campaign in 2022 when he recorded 21 goals and five assists for Memphis 901 FC to finish second in the race for the Golden Boot to Orange County SC’s Milan Iloski, earning USL Championship All-League First Team honors. He has recorded double-digits campaigns in three of the past four seasons, including 13 regular season tallies for LouCity in the 2025 season.

A native of Nashville, Tenn., Goodrum has averaged a goal every 173 minutes in the USL Championship’s regular season, logging a shooting accuracy rate of 54.3 percent and shot conversion rate of 21.9 percent.
