OAKLAND, Calif. – Oakland Roots SC announced on Tuesday the club had signed defender Keegan Tingey ahead of the 2026 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
A native of California’s East Bay, Tingey was born in Fresno and raised in Danville as he makes a return to the west coast after most recently competing for fellow USL Championship club Loudoun United FC. The 25-year-old recorded 61 appearances for Loudoun in USL Championship play, logging 5,007 minutes of action and notched three goals and three assists across the regular season and playoffs.
“Keegan is an East Bay native who plays with incredible competitiveness, an unbelievable engine, and real honesty,” said Roots Head Coach Ryan Martin. “He’s two-footed, can beat players off the dribble, and has the quality to push teammates in behind. He’s one of the top outside backs in the league, and we’re excited to welcome him home for the 2026 season.”
Tingey attended De La Salle High School while participating in the San Jose Earthquakes Academy. He went on to compete collegiately at Stanford University, where he recorded 66 appearances and was a three-time Pac-12 All-Conference honoree and helped the Cardinal win the 2020 Pac-12 title.
He subsequently signed a homegrown contract with the Earthquakes and played for San Jose Earthquakes II in the 2023 season before signing with Loudoun United.
