Miami FC has signed goalkeeper Eloy Room, who most recently helped lead Curaçao to its first berth in the FIFA World Cup next summer.
MIAMI – Miami FC announced on Friday the club had signed Curaçao international goalkeeper Eloy Room ahead of the 2026 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Room signs with Miami following his last stint with Cercle Brugge in Belgium’s Juliper Pro League. Prior to that season, Room played in Netherlands’ Eredivise for Vitesse Arnhem, where he also had prior stints from 2009 to 2018. In his time playing in the Netherlands, the Curaçaoan became the Dutch Champion and won the Dutch Cup in 2017 and 2018.
The goalkeeper is also no stranger to the American soccer landscape, having played for five seasons with Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer between 2019 to 2023. In that time, he recorded 96 appearances and recorded 267 saves at a save percentage of 73.7%, helping the Crew win MLS Cup twice.
“I am really excited to join Miami FC and help the club achieve success,” said Room. “I believe that with my leadership and mentality I can elevate the club to an even higher level.”
On the international side, Room has made 65 appearances for the Curaçao Men’s National Team, including helping the country qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Room is set to be Miami FC’s first active player to compete in the World Cup.
With Curaçao, Room has also competed in the Concacaf Gold Cup, Nations League, and Caribbean Cup.
