Almost 1,000 goals were scored across the USL Championship’s regular season and playoffs in the 2025 season, including some breathtaking finishes, which lit up the league’s highlight reel every week.
Now it’s time to decide the 2025 USL Championship Goal of the Year presented by Select. We’ve picked out 16 top strikes and placed them into four groups. Each group winner will advance to next week’s Final stage, where the Goal of the Year will be crowned.

Joe Hafferty, Lexington SC – LEXvHFD, 3/8/25: The center back powered home a remarkable half-volley from almost 30 yards that whistled into the top-right corner of the net as the hosts made their presence felt in their USL Championship debut.
Aiden McFadden, Louisville City FC – #INDvLOU, 8/30/25: The 2025 All-League selection lit up the season’s first edition of the LIPAFC as he cut in from the left and unleashed a brilliant strike to the top-right corner to start LouCity’s fightback.
Peter-Lee Vassell, Birmingham Legion FC – #INDvBHM, 9/21/25: The Jamaican international delivered a remarkable free kick from beyond the left edge of the penalty area, curling it inside the near puts to put Legion ahead at the Mike.
Houssou Landry, Charleston Battery – #CHSvPHX, 6/21/25: The Côte d’Ivoire put the exclamation point on the Battery’s victory against Phoenix with a remarkable finish from the halfway line that left the goalkeeper helpless.
Mohamed Traore, Phoenix Rising FC – #ELPvPHX, 3/15/25: The Cameroon native launched an incredible first-time strike from inside the center circle that flew into the top-left corner of the net to complete Rising’s three-goal comeback in El Paso.
Damián Rivera, Phoenix Rising FC – #PHXvRI, 3/25/25: The Guatemala international produced an incredible piece of control to keep possession as he pirouetted between two defenders before finishing on the half-volley in the desert.
Jimmy Medranda, San Antonio FC – #LEXvSA, 3/29/25: The veteran midfielder delivered an outstanding strike, bending a left-footed shot from outside the top-left edge of the penalty area outside the far post and into the right corner of the net.
Zico Bailey, New Mexico United – #NMvDET, 9/10/25: The Philippines international scored from beyond the halfway line with a frozen rope, catching the goalkeeper off his line with a sensational strike at The Lab.
Joe Brito, Rhode Island FC – #RIvMB, 5/10/25: The New England native produced a remarkable piece of skill, controlling a redirected cross on his chest before volleying in off the right post in the same motion at Centreville Bank Stadium.
Kobe Hernández-Foster, Detroit City FC – #DETvSA, 8/30/25: The 23-year-old froze the goalkeeper with a brilliant free kick from the top-right edge of the penalty area, going around the wall into the top-left corner at Keyworth Stadium.
Alex Mendez, Tampa Bay Rowdies – #TBRvHFD, 10/18/25: The former U.S. youth international produced a thunderbolt at Al Lang Stadium, winning possession in midfield before unleashing a shot from more than 30 yards that rattled home off the left post.
Stefan Lukic, FC Tulsa – #TULvPHX, 11/8/25: The Serbian provided a dramatic game-winner in the Western Conference Semifinals of the postseason, volleying home a side-footed finish into the top-right corner to send the Scissortails through.
Amando Moreno, El Paso Locomotive FC – #ELPvPHX, 3/15/25: The El Salvador international delivered a sensational bicycle kick from 11 yards out after a redirected corner kick, picking out the bottom-left corner of the net.
Justin Rasmussen, Oakland Roots SC – #OAKvSA, 3/22/25: Rasmussen made history with the Roots’ first goal at the Oakland Alameda Coliseum and did it in style with a spectacular overhead kick from the right side of the box that found the top-right corner.
Ethan Zubak, Orange County SC – #OCvPHX, 7/30/25: Days after becoming a father, Zubak produced a brilliant individual piece of work that first shook two defenders before a precise curled finish to the top-right corner of the net.
Rodrigo López, Sacramento Republic FC – #SACvOAK, 8/16/25: The USL Championship icon defied the angles with another signature set piece, curling a right-footed shot from beyond the top-right edge of the penalty area inside the near post against rival Oakland.
