LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas Lights FC announced on Friday the club had signed goalkeeper Jared Mazzola to a multi-year contract through the 2027 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

The Lights’ new goalkeeper played a crucial role in Sacramento Republic FC’s run to the 2025 USL Jägermeister Cup Final, keeping five clean sheets, winning two penalty shootouts, and conceding only twice in the entire competition. Mazzola also made the most saves in the tournament with 24.

“Jared is clearly a goalkeeper with tremendous potential, and we’re very excited to welcome him to the Lights,” said Sporting Director Gianleonardo Neglia. “Off the field, Jared is a community-driven human being with strong character, which we place a high value on during our player evaluations.

“On the field, he has shown in Sacramento’s Jägermeister Cup run and as a full-time starter in League One with Greenville that he has the ability to be a high-level starter in the Championship. We’re looking forward to seeing him bring that form to Vegas.”

Born and raised in Katonah, New York, Mazzola played at the college level for Quinnipiac University. He appeared in 43 matches for the Bobcats from 2018 to 2021, keeping a goals against average of 1.11 goals per game and making 177 saves throughout his college career. In 2021, he earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year honors after leading a Quinnipiac defense that conceded only nine goals in nine matches.

In 2022, after brief stints with USL League Two team AFC Ann Arbor and the New York Red Bulls U-21s, Mazzola signed for USL League One side Greenville Triumph SC. He cemented himself as the team’s starting goalkeeper in the 2023 season, starting in 32 matches and keeping seven clean sheets as the South Carolina club made its way to the League One playoff quarterfinals.

In 2024, Mazzola signed for USL Championship side Sacramento Republic FC, forming one of the strongest goalkeeping departments in the league alongside Republic FC’s all-time shutout leader, Danny Vitiello.

He played a total of 12 matches across all competitions for Sacramento, conceding eight goals (0.67 per match) and keeping seven clean sheets. Five of those seven clean sheets were vital for the team as they cruised into the 2025 Jägermeister Cup Final.
