DETROIT – Detroit City FC announced on Friday the club had acquired forward Alassane Ates Diouf via transfer from fellow USL Championship club Lexington SC and signed him to a two-year contract through the 2027 USL Championship season with a club option for the 2028 campaign. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Diouf returns to Le Rouge after a successful loan spell from Lexington this past season in which he recorded seven goals in 28 appearances for the club across all competitions. The 25-year-old also recorded 16 chances created while recording single-season career highs in the Championship with 48 shots and 17 shots on target.

Before he arrived in Detroit, the native of Dakar, Senegal, starred for Lexington SC in USL League One, where he scored 25 goals across two seasons, earning USL League One All-League First Team honors in 2023 and Second Team honors in 2024.

Previously, Diouf competed for both Austin Bold FC and San Antonio FC in the USL Championship. He has recorded 11 goals and five assists in 73 appearances in the league overall, logging 4,065 minutes of action across the regular season and playoffs.

Prior to joining the professional ranks, Diouf came to the United States after being scouted by SIMA Águilas, then part of USL League Two. He made five appearances with Águilas in 2018 before moving to Orlando City B in 2019, where he scored his first professional goal against South Georgia Tormenta FC.
