PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Rhode Island FC announced on Wednesday its initial roster updates ahead of the 2026 USL Championship season, with 20 players currently under contract for the upcoming campaign.

RIFC exercised contract options for goalkeeper Koke Vegas, midfielders Amos Shapiro-Thompson and Kevin Vang, and forward JJ Williams.

The quartet join a group of 16 players previously under contract – defenders Hugo Bacharach, Grant Stoneman, Frank Nodarse, Karifa Yao, Aimé Mabika, Hamady Diop, Aldair Sanchez and Dani Rovira, midfielders Clay Holstad, Maxi Rodriguez, Zach Herivaux and Jojea Kwizera, and forwards Albert Dikwa, Noah Fuson, Mathieu Ndongo, and Dwayne Atkinson.

The club declined contract options for Cole Dewhurst, Will Meyer, Isaac Angking and Taimu Okiyoshi, while Marc Ybarra, Rio Hope-Gund and Jackson Lee are out of contract. The club also announced the retirement of Joe Brito.

The club also announced it remained in ongoing discussions with multiple players currently out of contract or who had options declined about a possible return for the 2026 season, with additional announcements set to be made over the coming weeks as the team prepares for the new season.
