ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico United announced on Tuesday its initial roster decisions as the club begins preparations for the 2026 USL Championship season, with nine players currently set to return for the new campaign.
United exercised contract options for midfielders Dayonn Harris and Marlon Vargas, who are joined by defenders Talen Maples, Will Seymore and Chris Gloster, midfielders Zico Bailey, Valetin Noel and Ousman Jabang and forward Greg Hurst in returning to the club next season.
New Mexico declined contract options on Jaylin Lindsey, Gedion Zelalem, Thomas Amang, and Jackson DuBois, while goalkeepers Alex Tambakis and Kris Shakes, defender Jackson DuBois, midfielder Sergio Rivas and forwards Mukwelle Akale and Luther Archimede are out of contract.
Additionally, Kipp Keller (Austin FC), Carlos Moguel Jr. (Louisville City FC) and Tomas Pondeca (FC Dallas) have returned to their parent clubs after the conclusion of their loan agreements.
New Mexico United remains in active discussions with several out-of-contract players as the club shapes its roster for the 2026 season.
