FC Tulsa to host Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC in 2025 USL Championship Final

Clash between Scissortails, Hounds will see new side claim the league title after conference crowns on Saturday night

TAMPA, Fla. – FC Tulsa will host Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC in the 2025 USL Championship Final after each claimed their first conference titles with victories on home turf in the 2025 USL Championship Playoffs presented by Terminix on Saturday night.

The meeting between the Scissortails and Hounds will mark the sixth consecutive different winner of the league title as both clubs advance to the Championship Final for the first time in their respective histories.

The 2025 USL Championship Final will be held at ONEOK Field on Saturday, November 22 at 12 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. CT and air on the CBS Television Network and SiriusXM FC.

Pittsburgh native Robbie Mertz scored the decisive goal as Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC took victory against the defending Eastern Conference title-holders Rhode Island FC before a club-record sellout crowd of 6,745 fans at Highmark Stadium. Mertz scored the first goal of the postseason for the Hounds in the 55th minute, shooting home from the right side of the penalty area to break their scoreless streak at 389 minutes. The hosts also got a five-save shutout from goalkeeper Eric Dick to see off Rhode Island, which was reduced to 10 players on the hour-mark after Marc Ybarra was sent off for his second yellow card.

Western Conference Final

Taylor Calheira scored a pair of goals while Jamie Webber recorded a goal and assist to lead FC Tulsa to victory against New Mexico United before a club-record sellout crowd of 9,180 at ONEOK Field. The Scissortails’ high pressure forced mistakes from the visitors and resulted in Calheira’s opening goals six minutes before halftime off an assist by Webber. The 23-year-old added his 17th goal of the season 12 minutes into the second half, scoring from close range after the hosts had kept a long throw-in opportunity alive. Webber then wrapped up the scoring with 14 minutes to go, capitalizing on a sharp set-up by Alex Dalou before finishing low from the right side of the box.
