TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship today announced that FC Tulsa’s Luke Spencer has been voted the USL Championship Coach of the Month for October.

Spencer earned his second Coach of the Month award this season after leading his side to an undefeated final month of the regular season, where the Scissortails went undefeated with three wins out of four to finish top of the Western Conference for the first time in club history.

Tulsa recorded nine goals and posted a +8-goal differential while setting single-season club records in wins and points as the side earned its first home playoff game in club history, finishing the campaign nine points clear of its closest competition in the West.

“You play the whole season to show you’re consistent, you can consistently win,” said Spencer following his side’s regular-season ending victory against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on October 25. “Now it’s a question of what we do with the No. 1 seed and how we take advantage of the homefield advantage.”

Promoted to his first head coaching position in the pro ranks last offseason after serving as an assistant coach in 2024, Spencer led the Scissortails to their best season in club history, with 16 regular season wins and only five defeats.

He previously earned Coach of the Month honors in July as the side was in the middle of a club-record 14-game undefeated streak, with Tulsa now set to host Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday night in the Western Conference Semifinals of the 2025 USL Championship Playoffs presented by Terminix.

Spencer earned the award with 45% of the ballot. Louisville City FC’s Danny Cruz finished second on 33% after leading his side to an undefeated month in which it claimed the USL Championship Players’ Shield for a second consecutive year.

The USL Championship's Coach of the Month award is voted upon by the USL Championship National Media Panel and the USL Championship Technical Committee, with each group responsible for 50% of the overall vote.
