EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Locomotive FC announced on Monday the contract of Head Coach Wilmer Cabrera will not be renewed for the 2026 USL Championship season. Assistant coach Gerson Echeverry departs the club as part of the change.

Cabrera compiled a 17-19-17 regular season record following his appointment midway through the 2024 USL Championship season, overseeing an improvement in the 2025 season as the club went from a last-place finish in the Western Conference during the 2024 season to finishing in fourth place this season, posting a 1.36 points-per-game mark this season.

Locomotive fell 1-0 against Phoenix Rising FC in the Western Conference Quarterfinals of the 2025 USL Championship Playoffs, bringing an end to its seventh campaign.

Details regarding the club’s next head coach will be announced at a later date.
