TAMPA, Fla. – The bracket for the 2025 USL Championship Playoffs presented by Terminix was set on Saturday night, with the road to the 2025 USL Championship Final on the CBS Television Network and TUDN on Saturday, November 22 set to begin this Saturday night after a thrilling final day of the regular season.
The Western Conference saw numerous twists and turns on the way to filling the final four postseason berths on Saturday night. Phoenix Rising FC earned a draw on the road against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC while fellow former title-winners San Antonio FC and Orange County SC took victories at home to ensure their places in the bracket. Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC fell, meanwhile, but a subsequent defeat of Lexington SC by Oakland Roots SC ensured the defending title-holder advanced to the postseason by a point as the No. 8 seed.
The Eastern Conference also delivered drama as Detroit City FC’s 1-1 draw at the Tampa Bay Rowdies left the door open for Indy Eleven. Needing a win away at Orange County SC, the Boys in Blue were unable to capitalize as they suffered a 2-1 loss at Championship Soccer Stadium, giving Le Rouge the final playoff spot and a trip to face Players’ Shield winner Louisville City FC in the Conference quarterfinals.
Elsewhere in the Eastern Conference, North Carolina FC jumped up to claim the No. 3 seed with a 1-0 victory on the road against Loudoun United, while Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and El Paso Locomotive FC will be the No. 4 seeds in their respective conferences despite both missing out on victories in their regular season finales.
The 2025 USL Championship Playoffs presented by Terminix will be played on a fixed bracket with no re-seeding after each round. The Conference Semifinals will be held the weekend of November 7-9, while the Conference Finals will be held the weekend of November 14-16 before the USL Championship Final on Saturday, November 22 on the CBS Television Network, TUDN and SiriusXM FC.
2025 USL Championship Playoffs Notes
- Louisville City FC will be making its 11th consecutive postseason appearance, equaling the longest postseason streak in league history of the Charleston Battery’s 11-season run between 2011-21. Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC’s active streak of eight consecutive postseasons ranks second among the playoff field.
- Loudoun United FC will make its USL Championship Playoffs debut, reaching the postseason for the first time in its seventh season in club history having claimed the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference. United is the lone first-time playoff participant this season.
- Hartford Athletic and FC Tulsa will make their postseason returns after multi-season absences. This season’s USL Jägermeister Cup title-winner, Hartford earned its first postseason berth since its lone prior trip in 2020, while Tulsa earned the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference having last been part of the postseason in 2021.
- San Antonio FC and El Paso Locomotive FC also return to postseason action after a one-year absence. SAFC earns its fifth playoff berth in the past six seasons, while El Paso makes its fifth postseason appearance in its seventh season.
- Seven former USL Championship title winners will be part of the postseason, with Louisville City FC (2017, 2018) aiming to become the first three-time winner in league history. Defending title holders Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC are joined by the Charleston Battery (2012), Orange County SC (2021), Phoenix Rising FC (2023), Sacramento Republic FC (2014), and San Antonio FC (2022) as each club looks to add to its lone title.
