TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship today announced the Team of the Week for Week 33 of the 2025 regular season, with Oakland Roots SC forward Peter Wilson voted Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball with a two-goal, one-assist road performance against New Mexico United.
Despite operating with the fewest number of touches (28) of any player to go the full 90 minutes, Wilson helped Oakland secure a point at New Mexico by converting a pair of penalty kicks and assisting Gagi Margvelashvili's 82nd-minute equalizer.
The USL Championship Player of the Week is selected by the USL National Media Panel, which is made up of representatives from each media market in the Championship. Wilson finished with 33%, while Indy Eleven's Bruno Rendón and Orange County SC's Colin Shutler finished tied for second on 25%.
GK – Colin Shutler, Orange County SC: Shutler kept a pair of clean sheets in Week 33, helping his side to a 1-0 midweek victory against San Antonio before handing Louisville its third league shutout of the season. The 27-year-old also connected on 14 long balls, added 10 recoveries, made eight saves and completed 68% of his passes.
D – Sean Suber, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC: Suber scored the winner at Monterey Bay, further contributing to Pittsburgh's 3-0 victory with an 81% passing accuracy rate, eight completed long passes, six clearances, six duels won and five recoveries.
D – Gagi Margvelashvili, Oakland Roots SC: Margvelashvili scored his first USL Championship goal of the season, confirming Oakland's 3-3 draw at New Mexico with an 82nd-minute equalizer. The former Georgia youth international also won a penalty kick, completed 91% of his passes, won six duels, connected on four long passes, added four clearances and tallied four recoveries.
D – Jonathan Ricketts, Miami FC: The first-year Miami defender tallied his first league goal of the season, helping Miami defeat Birmingham on the road, 3-2. Ricketts also won 10 duels, completed 75% of his passes, won six tackles, recorded four clearances and registered four recoveries.
M – Alex Méndez, Tampa Bay Rowdies: In his seventh appearance for Tampa Bay, the former United States youth international provided an assist and scored the winner against Hartford. Méndez finished with an 89% passing accuracy rate, four recoveries, three duels won, three interceptions and two blocks.
M – Aaron Molloy, Charleston Battery: With a goal and two assists, Molloy guided Charleston to a 5-0 thrashing of defending champions Colorado Springs on Monday. Across 180 minutes in Week 33, Molloy totaled 25 completed long passes, 10 duels won, nine recoveries, seven fouls won, six chances created, three interceptions, and completed 92% of his passes.
M – Marcus Epps, Lexington SC: Epps provided a goal and an assist in Lexington's 2-2 draw against Sacramento, recording a 78% passing accuracy rate, four duels won, two completed dribbles, two clearances and two recoveries through 73 minutes.
M – Jackson Wälti, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC: Wälti sealed Pittsburgh's 3-0 win at Monterey Bay with a goal and an assist off the bench. The 25-year-old also completed 93% of his passes and added two recoveries through 22 minutes.
F – Michee Ngalina, Hartford Athletic: Ngalina scored in both first and second-half stoppage time, recording a brace in Hartford's 3-2 loss at Tampa Bay. The 25-year-old also completed 65% of his passes, picked up four fouls, won seven duels and won two tackles.
F – Peter Wilson, Oakland Roots SC: The first-year Oakland forward has raced to the top of the Golden Boot standings with a two-goal, one-assist performance in a 3-3 draw at New Mexico. The former Liberia international also won a penalty kick, five duels and three fouls.
F – Bruno Rendón, Indy Eleven: The reigning USL League One Defender of the Year recorded his first USL Championship brace, lifting Indy to a 2-1 victory against Loudoun on Saturday. The versatile Cuban also completed 64% of his passes, won six duels, tallied four recoveries and won two tackles.
Coach – Ben Pirmann, Charleston Battery: Pirmann's side picked up four points on the week, downing defending champion Colorado Springs, 5-0, before ending the weekend with a 1-1 draw against Detroit.
