EL PASO, Texas. – Stefan Lukic scored a stoppage-time equalizer as FC Tulsa earned a 1-1 draw against El Paso Locomotive FC at Southwest University Park to run his side’s undefeated streak to three games after Gabriel Torres had given Locomotive a first-half lead.
The Scissortails opened the game brightly and in the sixth minute almost took the lead as Trevor Amann rang the left post with a shot from 11 yards out. Giordano Colli had another chance four minutes later that was brilliantly saved by El Paso’s Jahmali Waite, but Locomotive then grabbed the lead in the 24th minute as a free kick from the right by Ricky Ruiz was flicked on by Kofi Twumasi to Torres, who buried his chance from close range.
Locomotive went close to adding to their lead late in the first half when Frank Daroma’s shot was tipped wide of the left post by Tulsa’s Johan Peñaranda, but as the hosts appeared to be on their way to victory, Lukic stepped up in stoppage time and produced an outstanding free kick that picked out the top-right corner of the net to grab a point for the Scissortails.
