HARTFORD ATHLETIC’S KYLE EDWARDS SETS SINGLE-SEASON SCORING RECORD FOR SUBSTITUTES

Hartford Athletic’s Kyle Edwards recorded his 12th goal of the season last Tuesday night to set a single-season club record for goals in a USL Championship regular season. The goal was also Edwards’ eighth as a substitute in the regular season, setting a USL Championship record for goals by a substitute in a season, surpassing the mark of seven goals set by Matt Fondy for Orange County SC in the 2013 season.

The St. Vincent and Grenadines international has logged only 1,013 minutes this regular season, giving him a strike rate of 84.4 minutes/goal during the campaign. That mark currently ranks fourth all-time among players with at least 10 goals in a regular season campaign, with Fondy’s overall mark of 10 goals in 2013 having come at a strike rate of a goal every 58.3 minutes to lead the way.

Louisville City FC and Hartford Athletic each hit the road this weekend aiming to continue lengthy road winning streaks, with LouCity on a seven-game winning streak dating to its 4-1 victory against Loudoun United FC on June 25 and Hartford on a six-game winning streak dating to its 4-1 victory against Birmingham Legion FC on August 9.

LouCity’s streak is currently the second-longest in the USL Championship’s regular season history to the nine-game streak compiled by Phoenix Rising FC during the 2019 season. The side visits Orange County SC on Saturday having won its lone prior visit to Championship Soccer Stadium, taking a 3-1 win in the 2023 campaign.

Hartford, meanwhile, visits the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday night, where it has won only once in six visits in its history, with the win coming on July 13, 2021, when Derek Dodson scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory at Al Lang Stadium.

LOUISVILLE CITY’S BRIAN OWNBY JOINS CHAMPIONSHIP’S 40-40 CLUB

Louisville City FC’s Brian Ownby scored the game-winning goal as the club claimed the 2025 USL Championship Players’ Shield with a 1-0 victory against Miami FC on Saturday night. The goal was Ownby’s 40th regular season goal of his career and made the veteran winger just the sixth player in the league’s history to have recorded both 40 goals and 40 assists in the USL-C regular season.

ORANGE COUNTY’S CHRIS HEGARDT RECORDS THREE-ASSIST GAME IN NEW MEXICO

Orange County SC’s Chris Hegardt recorded all three assists as his side played to a 3-3 draw against New Mexico United on Saturday night, becoming the second player to post a three-assist game in the USL Championship this season, the 28th player to do so in league history, and the first to do so for Orange County.

Hegardt joined Louisville City FC’s Taylor Davila in recording a three-assist game this season, with Davila having posted the first three-assist game of his career on June 14 against Birmingham Legion FC.

OAKLAND ROOTS SC’S PETER WILSON CONTINUES SCORING STREAK

Oakland Roots SC’s Peter Wilson scored in both of his side’s contests in Week 32 of the regular season, scoring the opening goals in Roots’ contests against Hartford Athletic on Tuesday night and against Las Vegas Lights FC on Saturday night. Wilson has now scored in six consecutive games, recording eight goals, moving him two games shy of equaling the USL Championship record held by Hadji Barry, who scored in eight consecutive appearances for Sporting Kansas City II in 2018.

- FC Tulsa recorded its 15th regular season victory of the season with its 2-0 win against San Antonio FC on Saturday night, setting a single-season club record. The Scissortails had previously recorded 14 wins in a regular season in 2017 and 2021.

- Rhode Island FC’s Koke Vegas recorded his 30th regular season shutout in the USL Championship on Saturday night with a one-save performance against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. The Spanish shot-stopper reached the mark in his 105th regular season contest in the league. He has recorded 16 clean sheets in 44 regular season appearances for RIFC.

- FC Tulsa’s Taylor Calheira recorded his 13th goal of the regular season on Saturday night in his side’s 2-0 victory against San Antonio FC, setting a new regular-season record for the Scissortails. Joaquin Rivas (2018) and Phillip Goodrum (2023) had previously recorded 12 goals in a season for the club.

- The Charleston Battery’s Viggo Ortiz scored on his USL Championship debut for the club on Monday night and became the second-youngest scorer in the 2025 regular season aged 17 years, 140 days old after Orange County SC’s Pedro Guimaraes (17 years, 111 days). Ortiz is also the second-youngest scorer in the Battery’s USL Championship era after 2023 USL-C Young Player of the Year Fidel Barajas.

- Hartford Athletic’s 3-1 victory against Oakland Roots SC on October 7 marked the club’s first win away from home after trailing at halftime away in the USL Championship since October 13th, 2021, when the side rallied for a 3-2 victory against Loudoun United.

TAMPA, Fla. – The following is the USL Championship’s discipline report for Week 33 of the 2025 USL Championship season:

Sacramento Republic FC’s Aaron Edwards has been suspended for one game following his red card for two cautionable offenses against Hartford Athletic on October 11. Edwards will be unavailable for selection in Sacramento’s contest against Lexington SC on Friday night.

The following players enter the upcoming matches one caution away from their eighth yellow card of the season and a one-game suspension for caution accumulation.
