TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship today announced that San Antonio FC midfielder Jorge Hernádez has been voted the USL Championship Player of the Month presented by Konami eFootball with five goal contributions in four appearances.
Hernández tied for the league lead in goal contributions with three goals and two assists in four appearances, recording a shooting accuracy rate of 71.4% and a shot conversion rate of 42.9%, while leading the league with 16 chances created over the month.
"I want to give a special shoutout to all my teammates," Hernández said. "Without them and their hard work every day, this wouldn’t be possible. It's great to be named Player of the Month, but all eyes are on these upcoming games to clinch playoffs and secure a home playoff game."
"This award is well-deserved for Jorge," San Antonio head coach Carlos Llamosa said. "He was good in September for us, scoring goals and creating lots of opportunities. Jorge was fantastic, so hopefully in October, he's at the same level for us and shooting even higher than last month."
Hernández earned 48% of a weighted poll that included the USL Championship Technical Committee, a national panel of independent media representing every USL market and an online fan vote held at USLChampionship.com. Oakland Roots SC forward Peter Wilson finished second on 29% with five goals in three appearances, while Charleston Battery forward Cal Jennings finished third on 13% with four goals in four matches.
