Nine players who have previously competed for clubs in the USL Championship were named on Friday by Head Coach Marko Mitrović to the United States U-20 Men’s National Team squad that will compete at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

The tournament kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 27 with the United States placed in Group E with New Caledonia, France and South Africa.

Leading the contingent is former Louisville City FC standout Joshua Wynder, who returns for his second U-20 World Cup after being selected for the 2023 edition of the tournament prior to his transfer to Portuguese giant SL Benfica. A homegrown product, Wynder made 41 appearances for LouCity across the regular season and playoffs and was nominated for the 2022 USL Championship Young Player of the Year award after his first full season in the league.

Joining Wynder in the squad are other notables including former Birmingham Legion FC midfielder Matthew Corcoran, who is set for his second youth World Cup after competing at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup previously. Corcoran recorded 47 appearances for Legion after turning pro with the club in 2022 before being transferred to Nashville SC of Major League Soccer prior to the 2025 season. He recently featured on loan with Rhode Island FC, where he made four league appearances prior to his recall by Nashville.

Other notables include two members of the goalkeeper contingent, with recent Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC loanee Adam Beaudry having recorded six appearances during his time with the club this season, and former San Diego Loyal SC and Orange County SC shot-stopper Duran Ferree being named to the squad.

Overall, the 10 selections recorded 197 appearances and logged 11,615 minutes of action in the USL Championship regular season and playoffs.

The United States will open group play on Monday, Sept. 29 against New Caledonia (7 p.m. ET; FS1, Universo), before facing France on Thursday, Oct. 2 (4 p.m. ET; FS2, Universo) and closing the group stage against South Africa on Sunday, Oct. 5 (4 p.m. ET; FS2, Telemundo).
