NEW MEXICO UNITED’S ALEX TAMBAKIS EQUALS REGULAR SEASON SHUTOUTS RECORD
New Mexico United’s Alex Tambakis moved into a tie for the most regular season shutouts after posting the 58th clean sheet of his career last Wednesday night as United took a 4-0 victory against Detroit City FC at Isotopes Park. The 32-year-old equaled the mark previously set by Evan Newton, who retired following the 2022 season.
Already the all-time leader in regular season saves, Tambakis posted a four-save shutout against Detroit to move to 655 saves in his career. He could get his first chance to set the record on Saturday night when United visits Monterey Bay FC (10 p.m. ET | CBS Sports Golazo Network).

Hartford Athletic’s Kyle Edwards recorded the fifth two-goal performance of his career in the USL Championship on Saturday night to help lead the side to victory against Monterey Bay FC. In doing so, he equaled the USL Championship’s single-season record for the most goals by a substitute in league history with seven of his 11 goals this regular season having come off the bench.
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines international equaled the record set by Matt Fondy for Orange County SC during the 2013 season. Edwards is now averaging a goal every 68 minutes in the current USL Championship season, which ranks as the third-lowest strike rate of a player with double-digit goals in a USL Championship regular season campaign, trailing only Fondy’s 2013 season (58.3 mins/goal) and Dom Dwyer’s 2013 regular season for Orlando City SC in which he recorded 15 goals at a strike rate of 65.7 mins/goal.

The Charleston Battery’s Cal Jennings recorded his league-leading 15th goal of the season on Saturday night against Oakland Roots SC, moving to 80 regular season goals for his career in the USL Championship. Jennings reached the mark in his 147th regular season appearance, the fewest of the five players to reach the mark in league history.
Jennings is only the second player to record at least 15 goals in three USL Championship regular seasons after current Hartford Athletic forward and 2021 USL Championship Player of the Year Hadji Barry, achieving the feat in each of the past three seasons. The 28-year-old’s 80 regular season goals since the start of the 2020 USL Championship season are the most in the decade.

Louisville City FC took a 2-0 victory against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Saturday night at Highmark Stadium on Saturday night, extending the club’s undefeated all-time record at the Hounds’ home venue to 12 games across the USL Championship regular season and playoffs. LouCity is now 7-0-5 visiting Highmark Stadium all-time and has posted shutouts in each of its past four visits to the venue.
LouCity’s record of 12 games undefeated is the most of any club in a series in the USL Championship’s history. Among active series, the second-highest mark is seven, with the Charleston Battery having gone 4-0-3 away at Loudoun United FC in the series between the clubs.
