BIRMINGHAM LEGION’S RONALDO DAMUS REACHES DOUBLE-DIGITS FOR FOURTH TIME
Birmingham Legion FC forward Ronaldo Damus became the eighth player in the USL Championship’s history to record at least four regular seasons with double-digit goals on Saturday night as he bagged his 10th goal of the season in Legion’s 4-4 draw against Orange County SC.

Damus has recorded 48 regular season goals in the USL Championship, recording double-digit goals in each of his past four full seasons in the league with Orange County SC (14, 2021), San Diego Loyal SC (12, 2023), Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC (12, 2024) and now Legion. Only USL-C all-time scoring leader Dane Kelly (7) and current Charleston Battery forward Cal Jennings (5) have recorded more than four double-digit seasons in the league.

Louisville City FC’s Niall McCabe recorded his 30th assist in the USL Championship Regular Season on Saturday night, providing the helper on Kevon Lambert’s second-half goal that proved the game-winner in the side’s 3-1 victory against LIPAFC rival Indy Eleven at Michael A. Carroll Stadium.

A member of the club’s original roster in 2015, McCabe made his 229th regular season appearance for the club on Saturday and became the eighth player to record at least 30 assists for one club in USL Championship history. The 34-year-old is the second to do so for LouCity, following teammate Brian Ownby.

SAN ANTONIO FC’S LANDRY WALKER BECOMES YOUNGEST STARTER IN CLUB HISTORY

San Antonio FC’s Landry Walker became the youngest player to record a regular season start in club history on August 23 against Monterey Bay FC. The SAFC Academy product recorded his first start aged 16 years, 100 days old, becoming only the third 16-year-old to record a start in club history after current teammate Leonides Urrutia and former player Ethan Bryant.

Landry also became the youngest player to record a start in the USL Championship this season, surpassing Phoenix Rising FC’s Cyrus Kowall, who was 16 years, 130 days old when he made his first start against Orange County SC on June 7.

 LAS VEGAS LIGHTS EARNS VICTORY WITHOUT RECORDING OFFICIAL SHOT ON TARGET
Las Vegas Lights FC claimed the first victory under new Head Coach Devin Rensing on Saturday night and did so in unique fashion. The Lights’ 1-0 victory against Lexington SC at Cashman Field was the first in the USL Championship era in which the winning side failed to record an official shot on target in the contest.

The Lights’ goal in the 1-0 victory came via an own goal credited to Lexington goalkeeper Brooks Thompson, who mis-controlled a back-pass by Kendall Burks, resulting in the only goal of the game. The contest was the third this season decided by a lone own goal, having previously occurred in Lexington SC’s 1-0 win against San Antonio FC on August 16, and in Detroit City FC’s 1-0 win against Indy Eleven on August 9.

Birmingham Legion FC’s Enzo Martínez recorded his 53rd assist in the USL Championship on Saturday night in Legion’s 4-4 draw against Orange County SC. In doing so, the veteran playmaker moved within one goal or assist from equaling Dane Kelly’s record of 132 goal contributions in his career, with Martínez sitting on 131 combined goals and assists in his career.

- Orange County SC’s Pedro Guimaraes became the youngest player in club history to record multiple goal contributions in a USL Championship regular season game with his goal and assist against Birmingham Legion FC, and the 16th-youngest in league history aged 17 years, 142 days old. Current Chivas de Guadalajara and Mexico forward Efraín Álvarez holds the league record, aged 15 years, 324 days old when he recorded a hat trick for the LA Galaxy II on May 9, 2018.

- El Paso Locomotive FC’s 3-3 draw against Phoenix Rising FC marked the second time the club had rallied from a three-goal deficit to earn a result in club history. Previously, Locomotive rallied from a three-goal deficit in a 4-4 draw against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in which El Paso scored four consecutive second-half goals to take the lead before conceding a late equalizer at Weidner Field on August 12, 2022.

- Loudoun United FC’s Zach Ryan became the first player in club history to record 25 regular season goals in the USL Championship with his second-half goal against Miami FC on Saturday night. Ryan is the 55th player to have recorded at least 25 goals for a single club in the USL Championship’s history.

- Orange County SC and Birmingham Legion FC’s 4-4 draw at Championship Soccer Stadium on Saturday night marked the first such scoreline for both clubs in the USL Championship regular season. It marked the 10th time a game in the USL Championship regular season had ended in a 4-4 draw, and the third this season following El Paso Locomotive FC vs. Phoenix Rising FC (March 15) and Indy Eleven vs. Hartford Athletic (May 28).

- Hartford Athletic’s 3-2 victory against North Carolina FC marked its first comeback win since a 2-1 victory against FC Tulsa on October 18, 2024. Athletic has recorded 11 regular season comeback wins in its history overall.

- Louisville City FC’s Sean Totsch could become the first player in USL Championship history to record 250 regular season appearances for one club this Saturday when LouCity visits Rhode Island FC at Centreville Bank Stadium. Totsch (249), Niall McCabe (229) and Paolo DelPiccolo (202) are three of the five players to have recorded at least 200 regular season appearances for one club in the USL Championship era.

Phoenix Rising FC’s Ascel Essengue has been suspended for one game following his red card for two cautionable offenses against El Paso Locomotive FC on August 30. Essengue will be unavailable for selection in Phoenix’s contest against Las Vegas Lights FC on Friday night.

FC Tulsa’s AB Cissoko has been suspended for one game for caution accumulation following his eighth yellow card of the season against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on August 30. Cissoko will be unavailable for selection in Tulsa’s contest against Birmingham Legion FC on Saturday night.

Birmingham Legion FC’s Edwin Laszo has been suspended for one game for caution accumulation following his eighth yellow card of the season against Orange County SC on August 30. Laszo will be unavailable for selection in Birmingham’s contest against FC Tulsa on Saturday night.
