ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico United announced on Tuesday it had acquired midfielder Carlos Moguel Jr. on loan from fellow USL Championship club Louisville City FC for the remainder of the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

“Carlos is a talented young player, and we’re excited to have him join us for the remainder of the season,” said New Mexico United Sporting Director Itamar Keinan. “His competitive spirit and aggressive presence in the midfield really stood out to us. I look forward to seeing the impact he’ll make in Black and Yellow.”

Moguel arrives in Albuquerque after spending the first half of the season with Louisville. A central midfielder and Louisville academy product, he has made more than 50 USL Championship appearances since his professional debut in 2021. His addition strengthens United’s midfield depth as the club enters the final stretch of the regular season.

A Louisville City Academy product, the 22-year-old has contributed to LouCity’s playoff success in recent years. He started all three of LouCity’s playoff games in 2023, providing a game-tying assist in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal. In 2022, he converted the winning penalty kick as LouCity rallied to advance in the Eastern Conference Semifinal against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC.

“My belief is that this loan will help Carlos continue to grow as a player and provide him an opportunity to compete in a new environment,” said LouCity Head Coach Danny Cruz. “It is important that he has this experience to put him in the best position possible for us in 2026. We are grateful that New Mexico has provided him this opportunity and I am looking forward to watching him continue to compete this season.”
